Camp Pixie Dust Week 11-Stargazing week
I can't believe this is the second to last week of camp! I hope you enjoyed this flitterific summer. I was saving the best two weeks for last (because I'm a light talent). Anyway, this week is about stargazing because I adore stars. And fun fact; I literally had a dream at the planetarium last night.
School starting can be rough, but going stargazing can cheer you up. It's fun to print out a constellation chart and see which constellations you can find. Live in an area where there aren't much stars? If you can, you can try to go to an area with more stars. Or, you can simply go to a planetarium like I did in my dream. If you can't do any of those, then it's still fun to just study constellations or make star cookies.
Now for some nostalgia; Camp Pixie Dust is an event that has stayed relatively the same over the years like all events, but there have been some changes in 2012 and 2013. In 2012, camp was divided into six two week sections. The first section was the introduction while the other five represented a certain talent. Each section had a certain decorated meadow where you can earn a silly sweet using the troop's emote, a badge for playing a certain troop related minigame 5 times (in the decorated meadow), a special craft, a special quest and a Lyria tale. You could also earn a trophy in each section for making it onto the leaderboard of a certain game.
2013's camp was divided into sections too, only they were based on Pixie Hollow activities like wilderness exploring, gardening and crafting. The silly sweets and crafts from 2012 returned for the whole summer, and you can earn badges for showing spirit for each of the troops. The decorated meadows this time were in the meadows of the troop's mentor's quest location. Also, there were hidden hideouts for each troop which you can only access with that troop's shirt on. There was also a badge for doing the activity and camp challenges where the troop that earns the most of a certain badge wins a special honors badge. All troops won at least one challenge. The Lyria tale was about the Never Unicorn, and each section had a Never Unicorn quest.
I'd also like to talk about the free ballroom gifts throughout the years:
2010-Summer green summer snorkel
2011-A certain talent pennant depending on the week
2013-Duckbill orange rubber ducky tube (I remember this glitch where you could get as many of this cute tube as you want)
And as always, before we close off this post, here's the Glowworm Lyria tale:
This glowworm tale is sure to light up your heart!
The way glowworms light up the night is a beautiful sight!
But, there was a time when things were just not right,
Glowworms once lived alone all over the Hollow.
Not only that, they didn't even glow!
Each worm dreamed of seeing a familiar face
They inched all over, hoping this might be the place
Then one day, a worm inched into a clearing
He saw another worm, and then another nearing.
Suddenly, there were many worms in the clearing!
They started chattering, the sound was so endearing.
They were so happy, their excitement kept growing,
They looked around to see that they were all glowing!
Now they could find each other by looking for lights.
That's what makes Troop Glowworm friendship bright.
They flash beams to each other in the dark,
To find a pal, just send a spark!
And here's a badge.
