2018 Animal Masquerade

Hello, hello fairies and sparrow men! From now on, I'll be arranging the sections of my normal blog posts into different columns (sort of like the pixie postings but exclusively for events).

This week and for the rest of October, we'll be celebrating one of my favorite Pixie Hollow events; the Animal Masquerade!

Nostalgia Corner

The Animal Masquerade was the first ever Pixie Hollow event that became a tradition, and it began in October 2008. It introduced the new meadow; Acorn Summit. It was a hidden meadow during the event, but there were instructions on how to find it in the Never News. This event also introduced Summit Style which had animal masks. Acorn Summit was decorated with animal decor, and you can collect a pair of Raspberry Red chipmunk ears. You'd even earn a badge for wearing any mask or ears during the event.

2009 was similar to 2008, only instead of red chipmunk ears, they were Soft Orange. Animal costumes were sold in addition to masks. The masks were both classic and new. One distinguishing feature of 2009's masquerade is that Kit would sometimes visit public parties and hold costume contests there. The winners would receive the art award badge and 50 blueberries.

2010's masquerade received a major overhaul. Rather than just Acorn Summit, all the meadows but Sunflower Gully, Maple Tree Hill and Cottonpuff Field were decorated with animal crafts and beautiful gourd lanterns. A big feature that year was trick or treating. Each meadow would have a collectable item from a shopkeeper with Havendish Square's item being the Animal Masquerade badge. The new costumes added that year were based on the animal friends at Beck's and there were pet feeding stations which would automatically feed your pet.

2011 was similar to 2010, but when trick or treating, you have to say, "trick or treat" to get the item. After you get all the items, you'd get the event badge. Vidia would also have special mainland Halloween inspired rewards in her daily spin. Fairies could get a witch hat or cat ears and sparrow men could get a scarecrow hat or wolf ears. Both fairies and sparrow men could get this really, really cool pumpkin rock. You could also bake a jack o' lantern cookie at Dulcie's this year.

2012 was also similar, only you'd need a trick or treat bowl from Cassie's in order to go trick or treating. Vidia would also have these awesome magic wands in her daily spin in addition to last year's gifts and your pets could find their own pumpkin masks. And the best part was the SPOOPY decorated Lizzy's dollhouse in the theatre!!!!!!!!!

Starting in 2010, there were Fawn quests every year:
2010-Festive Animal Friends (pre event quest) parts 1 through 5-Pumpkin outfit
2011-The Animal Masquerade Scare-Pumpkin Orange Jack O' Lantern Tee
2012-Haunted Dollhouse Caper-Haunted Dollhouse badge

And here were the ballroom gifts:
2010-Trick or treat basket with 100 rose petals
2011-Chocolate Brown Sweet Tooth Bench
2012-Baker's dozen of candy corn silly sweets

The Animal Masquerade returned every year on FairyABC with decorated meadows and even special addition locations. In 2016, silly sweets were temporary available.

What are YOU going to be for the masqueade?

Fashion Frenzy

The Masquerade's fashion section will be all about COSTUMES! I posted about the costumes available on FairyABC last year. The link to this post is here.

I would give some costume creating tips, but it's all up to you really! You can dress up as an animal, a non animal or you can cosplay. Be creative!

If you aren't wearing a costume though, at least wear a Pumpkin Orange outfit!

Pixie Craft

You can't celebrate Halloween without PUMPKINS, right?????? Well, how about some PUMPKIN PAINTING????????

You'll obviously need pumpkins for this craft. I used fake ones because they don't rot and they come in various colors (such as orange, white, black and teal) but real ones work too. The rest of the supplies you'll need really depends on how you want to decorate your pumpkin, but a good idea is paint, paint brushes, glitter, glue and gem stickers. And for this craft, you'll want to cover your workspace with newspaper.

Here are some ways you can paint your pumpkin:
  • Paint words on your pumpkin. You can add the message pumpkin some flair by painting swirls and tiny leaves (or anything)
  • Paint polka dots using any color you think matches your pumpkin well
  • Attach gem stickers for a fabulous pumpkin
  • Use a paintbrush to apply glue to the top and the top half of your pumpkin. Then, pour glitter
  • Paint any image you want! It can even be an animal silhouette if you want
The possibilities are endless really!

FOUND

When preparing for the masquerade this past weekend, I found this strange leaf lettering message:

If you're having trouble decoding this "spoopy" message, please PM me on FairyABC (my username is Fuffeedoo1) for a hint.

Featured Badge

Here is this event's badge. This would be the badge you'd receive from trick or treating. But because trick or treating isn't here yet, you can just have this badge! Oh, and if you're not in college yet, don't be afraid to go trick or treating (as long as you're safe, respectful and have fun of course)! You're still a child! If you're able to buy your own candy, then earn this badge for giving it to the kids (or you can eat it I guess).
