Snowflake's Postings-October 2019
Events
We're celebrating two things this month; the purple moon and the Animal Masquerade. The purple moon is celebrated in the summer or fall every year and it's a dance of friendship. For some reason, the purple moon makes us pixies friendlier. And the Animal Masquerade, as many of you know, is the Pixie Hollow equivalent of Halloween. I'll do special posts on FairyABC relating to these events for my 20 days of fall thing (where I plan on doing 20 fall themed posts).

Many fairies like to dress up a bit for the purple moon celebration. Look up the Disney Fairies pixie party outfits for inspiration. It can be any color you want, but a lot of fairies like wearing purple.
As for the masquerade, wear a costume! I'll be posting a costume video later this month. But costumes can be anything.
For fun, here's a timeline of masquerade costumes:
2008 only had masks in Summit Style. They were designed by Heidi Meeface. There were mouse, rabbit and bird masks. Chipmunk ears were a free gift for the event.
2009 had the same masks and ears as the previous year, but there were also chipmunk, bee, owl, bear and fish masks as well as bee, fish and fuzzy costumes.
2010 sold costumes for the five animal friend options as well as the return of a few classic costumes.
Vidia started giving away mainland inspired costume accessories in 2011. There were cat ears and witch hats for fairies and wolf ears and scarecrow hats for sparrow men. I think this year had a peacock costume designed by a Pixie Hollow contest winner in the tailoring nooks.
2012 introduced the raven, fox, racoon costumes to Summit Style, and snowy owl and witch/wizard costumes as well as pumpkin tees, to the Post Office. The post office also sold the classic masks. The animal friend costumes were in Cassie's. The Queen's Boutique sold a peacock inspired masquerade gown. Vidia gave away wands in addition to the ears. I feel like this year had the best costume selection because it combined the costumes from previous years while adding some new ones.
Now, here are some animal themed dyes:
Monthly Activity
This month's activity is a pretty simple one; it's pumpkin painting! You can paint real or fake pumpkins. I did fake so I can keep my creations for years. Designs can vary from polka dots, portraits or random designs. For one pumpkin I put glue over it and poured glitter on it. Another classic activity that even fairies enjoy doing is pumpkin carving and making lanterns out of those creations.
Fairy Facts
Fairies love spending time with animals. It's mostly the animal fairies that communicate with them, but other fairies can talk to animals as well. Light fairies talk to fireflies, water fairies talk to water animals and garden fairies talk to insects. Animals are typically very helpful to fairies. Fireflies light up Pixie Hollow and birds can carry supplies to and from the mainland. Sometimes, fairies just like to play with animals. One favorite is butterfly racing. A fairy tries to gather his or her butterfly to the finish line, but it's easier said than done because butterflies don't like boundaries. Other games are pillbug marbles and hummingbird reverse race (last hummingbird to finish wins). And of course, there's animal derby which is sort of like horse races on the mainland.
Not all animals are friendly to fairies though. Those type of animals don't speak to fairies. These include hawks, wasps and snakes. While fairies have been friendly with cats in Neverland (well...some of them), they avoid cats on the mainland as they could see fairies as bait.

Mostly A’s-Fireflies-Fireflies are in charge of
bringing glow to Pixie Hollow. With your positive energy, you can brighten the
spirits of all your friends! Fireflies love bright colors and honey.
Mostly B’s-Ladybugs-Ladybugs are a favorite for the
animal talents to paint. You likely enjoy art or creativity in general. These
adorable insects also enjoy hide n’ seek.
Mostly C’s-Hummingbirds-The voices of the
hummingbirds just sound beautiful, don’t you think? You likely enjoy music, or
at least really want to actually fly. Hummingbirds love berries, particularly
blueberries.

insects, dragonflies are touch to beat in a race unless you’re a fast flying
fairy. You are likely very athletic.
Mostly E’s-Bees-Many clumsies fear bees because of
their skin, but they’re very sweet to fairies. They enjoy sweet smelling

animal, butterflies just want to have fun without being weighed down! Wherever
the wind takes them, they go there. In the original Pixie Hollow, their
attitude makes them always happy and healthy. Butterflies also enjoy bright
colors.
